Week 9 of 28 recap

I finished week 9 today.

My mileage was helped by the 1.65 miles around Como Lake with the walking club to start off the week on Sunday.
I had a good week, feeling quite capable in each of my 2 minute jogging segments.  I was breathing pretty normally in the first minute of each 2-minute segment, which is an improvement over my first week of jogging, where I was gasping for air on each 30-second segment.  I am starting to settle into my form where jogging is concerned, which I knew would happen.  It’s not perfect, and I don’t have much of a kickback yet, but my shuffle is getting it done, and it will improve over time.  I know I’m slow, but I have to start somewhere!

I rowed 3x this week, 2 7000m rows, and a 4×800 interval row.  I’m feeling good on the rowing machine, and when this 28 weeks is done, I’ll be looking to keep up both the jogging and the rowing.  And add some bicycling to the mix.

Week 10 is the week of 10s – each of my workouts will be equal amounts of walking, racewalking, and jogging in 30 minutes – 10 of each!  Rowing will be 2 7500m rows and a 3×2000 interval row.  I will need to switch the days I do each activity, so that I row on M/W/F and do my C25K workouts on T/Th/Sa.  I will be doing Saturday’s workout at the hotel in suburban Chicago where we’re staying.  I am very much looking forward to attending a wedding next weekend!

Weekly walking: 69 minutes (includes 31.5 minutes of walking Sunday)

Weekly miles: 10.41 miles

Weekly rowing meters: 12.274 (10.73 miles)

Cumulative walking: 859.5 minutes

Cumulative jogging: 76.5 minutes
Cumulative miles: 66.79 (since 3/8/10)
